Join us at the 4 Bar 4 Ranch and learn historic chinking methods as we restore the Ford Barn this October 12th.
"Chinking" is the process of filling the gaps between logs in a wooden cabin or structure. In the case of the Ford Barn, this was originally done by first inserting burlap into the seams between logs, and then nailing a wedge shaped block of wood into the seam. This "wood block" chinking method was used by pioneers as it added insulation and significant structural strength.
We hope to complete the Ford Barn's chinking in this workshop, restoring it to its original construction.
